Client Responsibilities:

Implementation of Automated Bus Pass Generation for APSRTC, using Oracle 8.0.5 on Windows NT.

·         Installed Oracle 8.0.5 on Windows NT Server (HP LC 2000, P-III 700MHz, 512 MB RAM)

·         Established Oracle database connection for Visual Basic application using ODBC Drivers & Net8 based on TCP/IP.

·         Designed & developed database structures using Erwin Case Tools (Tables, Indexes, Views, Triggers to implement Business Rules, Procedures, etc).

·         Created databases for different applications keeping in view space & performance requirements for coming months.

·         Implemented Oracle’s software striping on tablespaces for optimal performance using different disk drives.

·         Trained developers to optimize PL*SQL Procedures and SQL queries.

·         Performance tuning of Oracle 8i database on Sun SPARC (includes optimization of UNIX kernel, Oracle init.ora, Oracle SGA, I/O balancing and memory tuning.

·         Converted very slow and complicated views to tables and implemented database triggers to update them automatically.

·         Implemented nightly backup routines, which include database exports, tape backup and copying database files to the development server for precautionary measures.

·         Implemented Hot Standby database for fail over situations.

·         Implemented multiple ARCHIVELOG destinations to archive redo logs to the development server to support immediate database recovery.

Implementation & Performance Tuning for Corporate database at VOLTAS India Limited.

·         Performance tuning of Oracle 8.0.4 database on HP-Unix (includes Oracle init.ora, Oracle SGA, I/O balancing and memory tuning.

·         Suggested Backup Strategies for implementation of nightly backups using Unix Cron Jobs.

·         Customized the SGA (two init.ora files) for different types of requirements during the days & nights.
